About YLAP

YLAP's youth development program is designed to build resilient, thriving young individuals through evidence-based interventions aligned with SAMHSA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. The YLAP program integrates trauma-informed care, skill-building workshops, mentorship, and community engagement to support holistic well-being. By addressing each wellness dimension, it empowers youth to navigate challenges, develop healthy coping strategies, and build strong, supportive relationships—laying the foundation for long-term resilience and success.

Prevention Focus

The YLAP Program is a proactive initiative designed to prevent risky behaviors among youth by fostering resilience, life skills, and positive engagement. Grounded in evidence-based prevention strategies, the program targets youth ages 14-24 in the United States, aiming to reduce rates of substance use, delinquency, school dropout, and mental health challenges.

Through faith-based mentoring, academic support, leadership training, and recreational activities, the program builds protective factors such as self-esteem, peer resistance skills, and strong adult-youth relationships. Family engagement and community involvement are integrated to create a supportive environment that reinforces healthy decision-making.

By focusing on early intervention and strengths-based development, the program works to interrupt cycles of risk and promote long-term well-being, academic success, and civic responsibility among participating youth.
